Service
As members of the Athens community and the Catholic faith, we have a responsibility to give back to those around us. Through service events scheduled throughout the year, we are provided with opportunities to do just that. Chances are given to interact with permanent members of the Athens community, with other faith groups on campus, and many others.
Service events include doing projects for parishioners, participating in Cardboard City to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity, and babysitting parish children while parents enjoy the evening out. These service opportunities are a chance for members of our community to work together for the benefit of others and they are incredible learning experiences! This past January, Newman participated in a week-long service trip at the Give Kids the World Resort in Kissimmee, FL. GKTW partners with the Make A Wish Foundation to help support families of terminally ill children in making their dreams come true. As Newmaners we touched the lives of many families and are looking forward to volunteering again in the future. “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms”
